Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian German film and TV actress famous for her performance in films such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. The only child of Romanian actress Valentin Platareu, Alexandra started her career in show business at an early age. At the age of 16, she turned sixteen, she had secured the leading roles in numerous shows on television. Following her highly acclaimed performance in the television film Der Tunnel, Alexandra went onto play more notable roles such as Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudljunge on Downfall. The film was nominated for an Oscar and won critical and commercial great success. The Reader as well as Der Baader Meinhof Komplex were also nominated for Oscars. Alexandra's career has seen her work on a number of important national and international projects. These include British biographical films Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and the French historical miniseries Napoleon as well as other miniseries. In addition, she has been an official juror for the Transylvania International Film Festival as well as The Cannes Film Festival.
